This painting was inspired by the legendary and beautiful Florence Griffith Joyner She is acclaimed for her performance at the Seoul Olympic games Joyner. in 1988 where she set a new world record (10:49) in the 100 Meters, a feat that to date has not been matched. Her steadfastness to her goals enabled her to break down barriers and put her in the lime light. From her many competitions and triumphs in track and field, this female African American became an admired role model to all as a result of her achievements. She crossed ethnic and racial barriers, and her life became an inspiration to male and female, black and white, young and old.
